The winery of Celler La Botera is situated in the village of Batea and boasts 150 ha of vineyards. It is certified by Terres de l’Ebre (Reserva de la Biosfera) as an environmentally friendly winery. The Terres de l’Ebre is entitled by UNESCO’s MAB
(Man and Biosphere) programme.
The Terra Alta project
Through innovation and modernity, without forgetting the tradition and quality for which we have always been known, Celler La Botera is transforming in one of the most important wineries of the D.O. Terra Alta. In March 2018 we opened our brand-new winery at the outskirts of Batea with which we are putting our stamp on this beautiful medieval village.
Other examples of innovative initiatives are the restructuring and enlargement of the vineyards and the incorporation of varieties such as Chardonnay, Sirà (Syrah) and Merlot. At the same time we maintain the local varieties such as the white Grenache and the red Grenache, as well as the Macabeu and Samsó. Other traditional winemaking methods are not forgotten either. Some wines, for example, are produced in traditional concrete tanks, which are built subterraneously. Not only do they see to a constant temperature, they also have an influence on the wine itself.
